Short Film: The Service

"The Service" Written & Directed by Samuel E. Mac of Outland View Films

Set in an industrial, minimalist future, "The Service" is a cyberpunk film about a man who uses a high tech drug to simulate life experiences.  However, the drug's effects aren’t always predictable.

Shot guerrilla style by Outland View Productions in industrial facilities across Montreal, this short draws upon influences across the genre in an attempt to portray the clash of future technology and modern day mental illness.  In doing so, it pays homage to some of the greats of the genre.  All in all, it's a very solid pastiche of the genre.
"Drawing influence from cyberpunk sub-culture and set in an industrial, minimalist future, the reclusive Trenton routinely relies on an underground drug in order to simulate life experiences. However, the effects aren’t always reliable nor predictable."
