Video: Khaleesi Makeup Tutorial
"Khaleesi, Daenerys Targaryen, mother of dragons and badassery, done in the style of both glam & gore. If you follow this tutorial, whatever you do, don't use burlap to make your top. I'm still itchy. The horse heart scene being referred to in this tutorial is from season 1 of Game of Thrones. If you don't watch that show or remember that scene, I probably look insane to you. :)"

Crafts: Mandalorian Armor
Feast your eyes on this incredible coplay build fashioned from scratch by Imgur user wyndryder. It's built on top of a umpire chestguard, which is very practical, but the it stands out for hand-detailed armor wear.
If you'd like to build your own, Wyndryder was kind enough to photograph each step of the creation process. It all looks pretty straight-forward, but I'm sure that if I ever tried my hand at building something like this, I'd end up looking like a walking crayon drawing of a Mandalorian.
I can't find an associated website or Reddit entry, but there has to be one somewhere. I you find it, please drop a link in the comments section below!

Photography: Star Wars: The Last Supper
"Star Wars: The Last Supper" by London-based Steve Brown
Photographer Steve Brown collaborated with members of the 501st Legion and 3D artist Steve Newman to create this photograph and its motion poster.
“The idea of recreating Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper using characters from Star Wars had been in my head for over a year before I was finally able to make it real. The painting is such an iconic and brilliantly composed imaged, and such a great way of showing a large group of people, that it has been used and parodied by many films, TV shows and other groups. But I had never seen it done in the way I wanted to present it, and the key for me was the relationship between Darth Vader and the Emperor.

Humor: If you’re not cosplaying…

"If you’re not cosplaying… why even bother?" by Bill Bramhall for the Daily News
Our local Sheriff's department decided to beef up security for the Star War premiere in light of the recent incident in San Bernardino. So, they announced that they'd be posting officers at the entrance to the local theaters over the weekend and asked that patrons please not carry weapons or weapon-shaped toys and not cover their faces.
The request went down just about the way you'd expect. Every other person was in costume, with face paint or a helmet, and I swear there wasn't a single person in line who wasn't carrying a lightsaber. The cops were turning people away from the entrance for about the first twenty minutes, then they just plain gave up. There wasn't even de-escalation. One minute, they were shouting at teenagers, the next, they just deflated and started waving people through.
There may have been a Jedi to blame.

Cosplay: Cat Armor
Models available to download from Thingiverse.
Nashville-based artist Jwall of PRINT THAT THING has beefed up his brave feline friend, Bobo, by creating an amazing set of 3D printed armor for the cute cat to wear. I give it five minutes before that cat figures out how to slip out of it and the fun's all over. The rig reminds me of BattleCat's saddle on He-Man.

Cosplay: Dalek & TARDIS
Dalek & TARDIS by Michelle of Gnomeclothes
Michelle of Gnomeclothes created this pair of Doctor Who costumes for her daughters. One of them dressed as the Doctor with her own tiny TARDIS and the wore a spectacular Dalek costume. If you look closely, the girl in the Dalek costume is wearing a red dress,
which is most likely a shout out to Clara Oswald.
The family spent three months working on the costumes together.

Cosplay: Clicker
Instructables has a tutorial on how to create this creep-tacular masterpiece. I'm not sure I'd ever put this much work into a costume, but if there were a costume content with cash prizes, this would certainly be a way to go.

Cosplay: First Order Stormtrooper Suit
There’s kitbash, and then there’s kidbash. YouTuber TJ Maggio took apart Jakks Pacific’s 48″ Big Fig First Order Stormtrooper figure and used its parts to make a costume for his 8-year old son. It helped that the huge toy was hollow, though I’m sure they had to make adjustments here and there. TJ says he used Velcro to secure the shoulder, bicep and thigh pieces.
In case you’re interested, Jakks also has a 48″ Darth Vader figure.

"A First Order Stormtrooper Suit. My 8 year old son and I decided we needed to make a suit for the upcoming release of Star Wars 7 The Force Awakens."
Cosplay: Mini War Rig
Cory and Jeremy Newton-Smith and their two adorably post-apocalyptic kids, 4-year-old Cooper and his 11-month-old sister Ziggy. This year for Halloween the Newton-Smiths turned a pair of second-hand Power Wheels toys into a fantastic mini War Rig from Mad Max: Fury Road. Cooper is dressed as a diminutive Max and Ziggy makes a tiny but fierce Imperator Furiosa.

Cosplay: Snowspeeder Wheelchair
Geek Dad Ryan Scott Miller converted his son's wheelchair into a Snowspeeder for Halloween. His son, Jeremy, who has spina bifida will be going trick-or-treating dressed as a rebel pilot (Luke, I'm guessing) from the Battle of Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back.
"Jeremy is a pilot in his very own snowspeeder from The Battle of Hoth from The Empire Strikes Back! Working flaps and the guns shoot glowing Nerf darts loaded with glow sticks!"
Cosplay: Pneumatic Feather Wings
Alexis Noriega created this beautiful human-scaled pair of pneumatic articulating feather wings for her Halloween costume. She promised to post a tutorial for people interested in building their own pair. I'm giving it a bookmark in case DC ever gets around to releasing a Hawkman (or Hawkgirl) series.

Cosplay: Boba Fett Minifig
Boba Fett LEGO Minifig Costume by Redditor iqwertyi
Redditor iqwertyi just completed this phenomenal costume that puts a unique twist on the classic standby of Boba Fett. According to iqwertyi, it took about seven weekends to complete the costume, which he designed using CAD
software to make sure the measurements scaled. He added holes to the minifig's hands to
allow his own hands to stick out, and he mounted a small fan
inside the body to help him keep cool. Check out the complete build process in this Imgur photo album to get a better idea of how this fantastic costume was made.

Cosplay: Nine Foot-Tall Hulkbuster
Photographs by Ian Barnard
Whatever handmade costume you may have made out of cardboard for this Halloween, I’m sorry to tell you, that’s not a Hulkbuster costume. THIS is a Hulkbuster costume! Thomas DePetrillo of Extreme Costumes created this outstanding version that stands nine feet-tall and shoots actual lasers from its eyes. DePetrillo was obviously worried about encountering the Hulk. Now, not so much.
It took over 1,600 hours of work to complete. You try making some Iron Man armor that is light enough to wear and move around in. The end result is just amazing and looks authentic. Photographer Ian Barnard captured great process and final images of the suit, as well as a behind-the-scenes video showing how the costume was brought to life.
I think it's safe to say that, if Thomas ever does meet his cosplay nemesis, Hulk will have a very bad day.
Cosplay: Sithboy
A Hell Boy / Darth Maul Mash-Up
I don't normally post cosplay photos here on my art blog, but this one's so creative, I could resist. Hell Boy and Darth Maul are a perfect combination aesthetically despite being diametrically opposed in terms of character. Yet, Luis and Rulison make it work. I'd love to see this concept expanded into a series of fan art comics or maybe a fan film.

Quick Pic: Holy Trilogy Picket
I don't understand why people picket conventions. I mean, this is America, so knock yourself out if that's your thing, but sci-fi fans who've just spent six weeks assembling the perfect costume are not going to be your most receptive audience.
