Merchandise: Millennium Falcon Lego Set

LEGO 75192 Ultimate Collector Series Millennium Falcon

Lego has announced it's single largest set ever, a New Millennium Falcon for their Ultimate Collector’s Series line. Tipping the scales at 7,541 pieces, it measures eight inches high, thirty-three inches long, and twenty-two inches wide.  Of course, at a whopping US$800, it's also going to be the single most expansive Lego set on the market.  I don't think that the price tag is going to be an issue, though, because the finished product is glorious.  The Ultimate Collectors Series has a reputation for going above and beyond in terms of accuracy, but this version of the Millennnium Falcon takes the cake.  Here’s Lego designer Hans Burkhard Schlömer cradling the assembled model in his arms.” [More images: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]

The set comes with ten minifigures: Han, C-3P0, Leia, Chewbacca, BB-8, Old Han, Finn, Rey, and two porgs, plus a Lego mynock.

The first deluxe Falcon set released in 2007 contained a measly 5,195 pieces, and remains one of the most sought-after sets in Lego history.  If this set is any indication, I suspect that if they release a second version of the Death Star, it'll be Lego's feature first four-figure price tag.

Lego Creation: Jakku - Nima Outpost

This amazing set was built by Wookieewarrior, probably as a way to justify the price of that huge Millennium Falcon.  I love all of the detail. It feels like a living breathing place. This diorama is worth all the portions! While we can’t see junk dealer Unkar Plutt in the market area, I’m sure he's lurking about somewhere.

Merchandise: Millennium Falcon Shed

Prints available for purchase from Waltons. £3,000

It may not outrun an Imperial Star Destroyer or be able to make the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs, but this Millennium Falcon-inspired potting shed has definitely got it where it counts.

This potting shed was recently introduced by the U.K. hardware company Waltons, and it's based on the aesthetics of the Millennium Falcon cockpit, from the signature round window to the foam board control panels.  Wookiee not included.
"Our Space Shed might not make the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs, but it's the perfect place for relaxing down at the bottom of the garden!"

Illustration: Millennium Falcon Car

Millennium Falcon Concept Car by Robert Kovacs

Hungarian automotive design student Robert Kovacs conceived this Millennium Falcon concept car. He does a great job capturing the spirit of our favorite "hunk o' junk."  Not only is she fast and stylish, she can cruise for 12 parsecs on a single gallon of gas.  I wonder how long it'll be before some ambitious geek mods out a car based on this concept?

Crafts: Millennium Falcon Cockpit

Via: Make

Do you ever find yourself jealous of someone else's childhood?  Cuz that's what I'm experiencing right now.  This stupendous Millennium Falcon Cockpit Playhouse is the work of Instructables contributor and super awesome dad Kyle Gilbert, who built it for his two Star Wars-loving kids.
"My kids love Star Wars, and pretty much every day they end up walking around the house with blasters and lightsabers as they fight off the bad guys. Since I was ready for a new project and because the new Star Wars movie is getting closer every day, I decided it would be fun to build the kids a Millennium Falcon Playhouse."
Gilbert built this geektastic playhouse over the course of ten days. It’s made of PVC board, MDF, glue, bondo, paint, and a variety of cleverly repurposed odds and ends for the dashboard.

Visit the Millennium Falcon Cockpit Playhouse Instructables page to learn exactly how this little bucket of bolts was made.

Papercraft: Millennium Falcon

This amazing thirty-eight inch model of the Episode IV version of the Millennium Falcon was created by modeller Bernard Szukiel.  It took him four years to build, and what’s amazing is that it’s made out of paper.  Well, it’s 99 percent paper, but it also features LED lights mounted in the mandibles, cockpit, and gun wells.

Sweets: Millennium Falcon Cake

This Star Wars-themed cake by by Cup A Dee Cakes includes so many loving, nerdy details: panels, access hatches, floodlights, all detailed in modeling chocolate.  Read a detailed description of the cake's creation over at the Cup A Dee Cakes blog.
"Each year we get to make a fantastic cake for a sweet little birthday boy named Kaben. His Mom gives us lots of freedom in terms of design and budget, so the cakes are fun for us to make. This is the first year that we haven't done a tiered cake, but we spent more hours than ever before.
The biggest challenge making sculpted cakes can be figuring out the structure under the cake that will hold everything up. It is scary and feels like you are more of a handyman that a baker. Having a cake with pipes and plywood also cut down the amount of servings in the cake. Our commercial refrigerator has a 22" wide door opening, so that limits our cake size and cake board. Most sculpted cakes are built on the board with the armature screwed in and everything secured down. When a customer needs a lot of servings and wants sculpted cake, you have to know your bakery's limitations. You may need to add sheet cakes or smaller matching cakes to fill the order. For this cake, I did need a lot of servings, about 100, and started the cake as large as I could while using my 22" cake board. To get as many servings possible and avoid making an internal structure, I used a sturdy mud cake and sculpted the cake out of one BIG hunk of cake. There were no supports, boards, wires or anything non-edible in the cake. All the rectangles of cakes shown are 11x 14" layers."

Papercraft: Miniature Millennium Falcon

This tiny and insanely detailed Millennium Falcon was made completely from scratch. It enters hyperdrive by giving the universe a paper cut, thereby opening up space.

The whole thing is roughly business card size, so I am just amazed at all of the detail that he was able to put on this ship. Not bad at all for his first attempt at a scratch-built Falcon. Kraft says that the whole project went smoothly, although the cockpit gave him a bit of trouble and he had to redo it.

Check out the full build process at Kraft's blog, beginning with the Basic Frame and Mass.

Food Art: Millennium Falcon Pie

Via: Neatorama

This beauty is a veggie-filled quiche folded into a sculpted pizza-dough shell.  The original recipe is in Italian, but Neatorama ran the article through Google Translate, and it sounds delicious.
"I had never done anything like this before but I must say that my first experiment based bio kamut, zucchini and cheese could definitely good if not beautiful, fragrant fragrant and pure light! Not to mention that it is an excellent vegetarian quiche. It all started when the Molini Pivetti asked me if I would like to test some of their flour. I was never interested in flour and scuriosare on their site I opened a world then there are only taken-in-tour sponsored by notes broadcasts where they make you overpay 1 tablespoon cornstarch and two grams of yeast! I discovered that there is a technical difference between flour recommended for cream and one for the pastry tarts. Wow. But you had not thought that the package could be directed instead to savory, with two types of flour for pizza soft. The commitment, however, was taken so I decided to try. You want to experience too? Then skip the break for the recipe!"
