Crafts: Baymax Amigurumi

"Baymax Amigurumi" by San Antonio, Texas-based Johnny Navarro
Pattern available for purchase from Etsy. US$40

There are actually quite a few Baymax amigurumi floating around the web, but I think that this is the best of the lot.  It's very pleasantly plump.

Crafts: Companion Cube

Companion cube by foxymitts

"I've been addicted to Portal at the moment despite the fact it makes me motion sick! Its a first person shooter/puzzle game, highly addictive.

Anyone who has played Portal will understand the love and devotion of the companion cube, and the heartbreak that comes with it also, curse GLaDOS!

I missed mine so much so, that I had to make myself a little 4x4x4" plushie. Instead of using the traditional stuffing method (as everything I have made so far, barring the incident of the little foam beads (never, ever, ever again) has been stuffed with conventional stuffing) I used foam instead, its rigid and is better at keeping its shape, so rather than being a tubby supposed-to-be cube, its actually a cube."

The Link measures approx. 6 inches tall and 3.75 inches wide (with shield on).  Link is made of acrylic yarn, safety eyes, wooden stick, hot glue and non-allergenic filling. The plush can be washed if the wooden sword is removed.

Crafts: Doctor Who Amigurumi

[Previously: Dalek Amigurumi, Doctor Who Amigurumi Patterns]
"So after months of preparation and weeks and weeks of work, I finally finished the set of Doctor Who dolls and Tardis I was commissioned to make! I really truly enjoyed making these guys and I swear, I almost teared up when I packed them all up and shipped them to Washington state. There is a lucky husband out there with a wife who loves him (and Doctor Who) a lot!"

Crafts: Hobbit Amigurumi

Knitted Hobbit Company by Denise Salway from Penyfai, South Wales

According to The Mirror, an amateur knitter from Wales re-created the entire cast of The Hobbit in yarn without any patterns to work from as party favors for her daughter's wedding.  In total, she created 150 favors of various design, but notes that the knitted Smaug alone took her a month to finish.  I can only assume that the term "amateur" is being used by The Mirror ironically, because these are masterpieces.  More of Salway's work can be found on Flickr and Twitter, and she hopes to release patterns of her work in the near future.

Crafts: Dalek Amigurumi

This amazing Dalek pattern from Lucy Ravenscar’s Ravelry isn’t only damn near perfect, it's also free! Of course, if you don't have the mad skills it takes to create one of these, you can always go buy yourself one of Ravenscar's adorable creations over at Etsy.
"These are instructions to make a classic 1970s grey and black Dalek or a bronze and gold new series Dalek. They are quite complicated, using different stitches and some difficult colour changes, so this pattern is recommended for fairly experienced amigurumi crocheters."
