News: Woman Stripped of Prizes After Using Public Domain Photos to Win Contests: Sasin Tipchai is a talented photographer from Thailand who shares many of his amazing photos on Pixabay. As he designated the images as public domain, technically anyone can use his photos for any purposes. What Tipchai did not expect was that someone would steal his photos to enter international photography competitions. According to Khaosod English, a Swiss photographer by the name of Madeleine Josephine Fierz won first prize at the Moscow International Foto Awards and grabbed a second place award at the Fine Art Photo Awards earlier this year using Tipchai’s work.

Video: HISHE Guardians of the Galaxy 2

How It Should Have Ended created their animated interpretation of how Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 should have ended. It features character art and animation work by Daniel Baxter with background artwork by Otis Frampton.
Since it hit theaters we started building this episode. Some HISHE’s take longer than others and this one was one of those longer ones. One because there are so many characters in this movie we had to actually cut out some of our ideas. And Two we were in an extremely busy time over here with babies being born, going to conventions, and then moving HISHE into a new home. But it’s finally here! So please enjoy! This episode was a blast to work on. I’m sorry it couldn’t be 20 minutes long with 5 bonus credits scenes.

Science Fiction Interfaces -- A project by nnkd.  In the same vein: FakeUI, Kit FUI, Screens on screenUI BAKA, and VisualPunker: UI. The book Make It So: Interaction Design Lessons from Science Fiction is a totally excellent treatment of this same topic, with lots of good analysis alongside lots of good good pictures.  Of course, fictional interfaces have done immeasurable harm to the field of real-life user interface design.  Fictional UIs are designed for the benefit of the audience, not the user, but the first thing we do when we try to design an interface in the real world is make it look like Star Trek because we've been programmed to expect interfaces to look like that.

American Gods Is Spoiler-Proof Television

Back in 1963, George R.R. Martin, who only had one “R” to his name back then, sent a letter to Marvel to praise Fantasic Four issue #17, saying it was probably the best comic of all time. Here’s a video from the History channel showing the author reading his old letter to us. At the end, we also see George’s old address, which I immediately seeked on Google map.
