Infographic: The Ultimate Gaming Cycle
Here's something I did years back. It was inspired by the chart below (under the cut). It took me an entire weekend, and I still get the itch to go in and edit it every time I see it. But it's really funny if you click through to the larger version so that you can read it. Sorry the text is so small here.
I've been thinking about cleaning it up and offering as a print on one of the poster sites, like Redbubble or Society 6. What do you think? Would anyone here actually be interested in hanging one of these on their wall in real life, or is it strictly internet humor?

Posters: Novel Colour Charts
"These are my colour signatures, an ongoing collection which are basically graphs of all the visual content in the books. For example when it might say ‘yellow brick road,’ ‘yellow’ gets a tally, or when for example in The Road it says ‘dark ash covered everything’ (not an actual quote), that image evokes dark grey instantly in the mind, so dark grey gets a tally. They are then ordered into a spectrum and drawn up, so the result is a surprise to me until it is done. I was shocked at The Road as well! A lot of the colour is fire, and when they finally find some food the book describes ‘juicy glistening peaches,’ which is so visual after pages and pages of grey."

Monet's Ultraviolet Eye: After years of failed treatments, he agreed at age 82 to have the lens of his left eye completely removed. Light could now stream through the opening unimpeded. Monet could now see familiar colors again. And he could also see colors he had never seen before. Monet began to see--and to paint--in ultraviolet.

25 Amazing Gingerbread Houses. They're all technically houses, but that's all they have in common.
After many years of installing a cut Christmas tree in the main public square of Brussels, Belgium, the tree this year is artificial, abstract, and electronic. Not all of the locals are pleased.
Beautiful Buildings Made from Ice and Snow. They don't last long, but for a short time they are pure magic.
The creator of the webcomic xkcd, Randall Munroe, is one of the internet's favorite people. The "webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language" delivered plenty of each. Then it veered into medical science. Munroe explained that everything changed when his fiancé (now wife) was diagnosed with cancer. Along the way, the webcomic pointed out some powerful observations in dealing with the disease. This one in particular made it clear that the only indication of beating cancer is time. Today's comic announces that it has been two years since the diagnosis. Congratulations to the Munroes on this important milestone. Happy Biopsy-versary!

I created Magna Arbor Vitae Deku (traslated “The Great Deku Tree of Life”) a sprawling exploration of the evolutionary biology of the 200 most important species from the Legend of Zelda video game series. Complete with binomial Latin names (Zora Bellator and Zora Fluvialis share a common ancestor with the more peaceful species Zora Sapien, for example), the brancehs of the Deku tree trace the evolution of each species over millions of years. Forks in the branches indicate an extinct common ancestor of the species that follow.
