All across America, hardened criminals are donning the cloaks of elves and slaying dragons all in orange jumpsuits, under blazing fluorescent lights and behind bars. We meet with two former cellmates in who played D&D together in maximum security prison and how they are now using the game to integrate back into civil society. Read more about how inmates play Tabletop RPGs in prison.

Quick Pic: Cleric Form

Cleric Form by Vanellopecruz
Source: Imgur via Geek & Sundry
It’s getting harder and harder to see a good cleric these days. You beseech your friend to heal you so that you might defeat the beast
next round. The cleric replies, “Certainly!” She hands you a scroll and
adds, “I’ll just need you to fill this out first.” Perhaps it’s time to consider what coverage is right for you. Thanks, Obama!
"My friend came into our weekly session with a new cleric. When I asked him to heal me, he handed me this."

Humor: Clothes make the Man?

"The clothes make the man?" by Shen of Owlturd Comix
Said every fan of the Game of Thrones ever. What makes suits feel even weirder is that from ages ten to twenty-two absolutely everyone could tell that I was thinking about dragons from they way I dressed. Now, I just feel like my tie is a lie.

Illustration: Dungeons & Dragons Alphabet
Caleb Cleveland had the awesome idea of creating an illustrated alphabet for his Inktober challenge, and not just any alphabet, a Dungeons and Dragons-themed alphabet. I especially like the way he's incorporated contemporary children into each illustration. I hope to see a full color version of this series available for sale as a children's book one day.

Humor: Transdimensional Hell-Blades
The YourD&DStories Tumblr promises to be a great bookmark if Stuart keeps it going. I like this one in particular. Why would you go around swinging a blade that could open a portal to hell?

Lego Creation: D&D Cover Mural
LEGO sculptor Eric Harshbarger has recreated the iconic cover of the 1977 Dungeons & Dragons Basic Set, the first Dungeons & Dragons manual, in Legos. Harshbarger spent two months working on this stunning piece. The finished LEGO mosaic is comprised of over 50,000 LEGO bricks in 20 different colors and measures 75″ wide by 90″ tall.
“Obviously, the countless hours I spent reading the rulebook and perusing the illustrations made a pretty big impression on me. In fact, I still run a Basic D&D campaign semi-regularly using this very set.”

Humor: Things the PCs won't Sly
"Things the PCs won't Sly" by Wesley Hall of Nameless PCs
The whole point of an RPG is to kill shit in increasingly awesome and bizarre ways, but sometimes I wonder if the game runner isn't conducting behavioral research. Evidently, I'm not alone.

Infographic: The Ultimate Gaming Cycle
Here's something I did years back. It was inspired by the chart below (under the cut). It took me an entire weekend, and I still get the itch to go in and edit it every time I see it. But it's really funny if you click through to the larger version so that you can read it. Sorry the text is so small here.
I've been thinking about cleaning it up and offering as a print on one of the poster sites, like Redbubble or Society 6. What do you think? Would anyone here actually be interested in hanging one of these on their wall in real life, or is it strictly internet humor?

Fresh Take: Dogs Playing D&D
"Dogs Playing D&D" by Austria-based Johannes Grenzfurthner
Prints available for purchase from RedBubble.
Austrian artist Johannes Grenzfurthner, founder of monochrom, in collaboration with game designer and artist Heather Kelley, has put a fresh twist on "Dogs Playing Poker," the series of sixteen oil paintings created in the early 1900s by American artist C. M. Coolidge.
Poker? Meh! Billards? Bah! Tabletop RPG? YESSS!
It’s about time the notorious gaming dogs got something relevant to play. Watch closely as they roll dice, check stats, and of course, eat snacks! Did we mention they love Vallejo?
