News: Female Link, "Linkle" Confirmed for Hyrule Warriors Legends.  At the Nintendo Direct yesterday, the company announced that its female experiment would continue, revealing an "original character" named Linkle for the 3DS version of Hyrule Warriors Legends... because Nintendo still won't make Link a girl, but they'll put him in a dress.  Well, I call bullshit.  Where the hell is the Zelda game we've been waiting thirty years for?

News: Physical version of Life is Strange will become available in January.  It will include Director's Commentary on why you have so many feels after playing.

Arstechnica compares and contrasts gaming performance between SteamOS running on Steam Boxes and Windows 10 systems. The comparison isn't flattering.

Game is a 4 Letter Word is being described as a New podcast is like This American Life for video games.  Each episode takes a single four-letter word and examines its connection to video games and the surrounding culture. Stevens aims for it to be listenable by gamers and non-gamers alike, so a lot of the time it plays out like a series of loosely connected stories about people, not just about games themselves.

Lego Creation: The Pillar of Autumn

The Pillar of Autumn

"Pillar of Autumn" (from Halo) by Lee Jones
Photographed by El Barto

I cannot begin to tell you how badly I need this ship in my life, and the best part is that after I sell my car to raise the money to build it, I'll have the garage stall I need to store it!

This huge sculpture was shown at BrickCon, the annual Lego enthusiast convention held in Seattle back in October.  It took Jones three and a half years to build the replica of the ship from Halo: Combat Evolved, and seven thousand dollars worth of Lego pieces let him build his recreation up to 2.15 metres long. The whole thing weighs just over 100kg too, dwarfing his previous creations of the Lord of the Rings Balrog and the Star Wars Rebel Alliance Blockade Runner.  How much Lego does $7000 get you? A lot, as it turns out.
"The Pillar of Autumn at one of its two (and only two) presentations. It was shown at BW 2014 this June, and in Seattle at Brickcon 2014. It was rather fun in Seattle at its showing as several people that worked on the Halo project were in attendance, and made a point of coming over to say hi.

3.5 years to completion, 2.15m long, 100kg, and about $7k in Lego."

Posters: Halo as Movie Posters

Halo: Combat Evolved

This is a fantastic idea. I'd love to see all of my favorite game franchises re-imagined as movie posters.
"How neat would it be to see your favorite game as a movie poster. I’ve been sacrificing countless hours on Halo 4, it’s only fair I pay my respects to the series. So I threw together a few posters, hoorah!"
