Video: Ghost in the Shell Painting

[ Previously: Fan Art Round-Up: The Major (Ghost in the Shell) Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 ]

"The painting process of a piece I did for the upcoming Ghost in the Shell film. This was a bit of a tough piece that required a lot of patience and experimentation of new techniques and processes, but it worked out pretty well I think. The film hits the theatres on March 30th, so I’m super excited to finally see it!"

Honestly, I could watch Kim Jung Gi draw all damn day long. The process as nearly as beautiful as the result.

Lego Creation: AT-AT Time Lapse

The largest official LEGO AT-AT kit you can buy measures includes 1,100 pieces. Peter “Cavegod” Brookdale created a custom model of his own design that incorporates over six thousand bricks.  Charlie Goldberg of BrickVault acquired all the parts to replicate Brookdale's giant walker and recorded the twenty-six hour build process for our enjoyment.

Lego Creation: BB-8

BB-8 is a particular challenge to LEGO creators, given his spherical body, but the builders of Bright Bricks have managed to recreate a life-size model of everyone's new favorite droid for the film's premiere in the U.K.

Lego Creation: Firefly

Adrian Drake built  this painstakingly accurate model of Firefly's Serenity over the course of 475 hours over twenty-one months.  The model is composed of over seventy thousand bricks, weighs 135 pounds, and measures seven feet in length.

Drake debuted his minifig-scale Serenity this week at Brickfair in Chantilly, Virginia. He based the design on the Quantum Mechanix blueprints, and he even managed to build most of the compartments from the set with the exception of the engine room, which was impossible to build while maintaining structural integrity of model.

The cargo bay and drive light up, both engines rotate, the wings swing out, and Inara's shuttle detaches. It's an incredible feat of Lego engineering.  Check out the full 75-photo set on Flickr. Also, check out this gallery by Jeff Stevens from Brickfair.
"You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the world. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down. Tells you she's hurting before she keens. Makes her a home."

Lego Creation: Star Destroyer Time-lapse

The OCD part of my brain is going absolutely bug-crawling crazy over the wrong-colored bricks.  Yellow in a Star Destroyer?  I know you'll never see them once the thing is assembled, but you'll know.  You'll just know.
"The Brick Show is building the 2011 LEGO Super Star Destroyer in just over 3 minutes. This is LEGO Star Wars set 10221 built in time lapse form."

Lego Creation: Star Destroyer Time-lapse

If I spent that much money on a set of Legos, I would definitely make it last for more than nine hours.  That would be my brick-a-day project for a year or two.
"Construction of a LEGO set at 3.1 minutes per second. It took eight Mountain Dews and nine hours to complete."

Lego Creation: Falcon Time-lapse

I would much rather be building with Legos than watching someone else do it, but given my age, I don't think that I'm ever going to be able to justify spending what it would cost to own an official Lego Millennium Falcom set... not unless I think of a way to make it tax deductible.  So, this video is probably the closest I'll ever get.
"We built the 5,197 piece LEGO Millennium Falcon in a day. Stop motion from 44 seconds in where one second of film equals two minutes of real time... see our 16-hour build in 8 minutes!"

Lego Creation: R2-D2 Time-lapse

R2 has always been my favorite Star Wars character.  I don't have the Lego set, though, because it drives me crazy that he's not properly round.
"Composed of 22,299 individual images at 30 frames per second. Over 4.5 hours to build in 3 separate sessions."

Video: Breaking Bad Time Lapse

Breaking Bad Tribute by Joshua Summana

"I LOVE Breaking Bad and had to do something for the finale. For this I was inspired a lot by the way Drew Struzan lays out his characters. I really wanted to keep to a simple look which was difficult for me since I like to go in and detail a lot of the time, especially for faces!!

But yes, all in all. I had a lot of fun painting this homage to Breaking Bad. Hope y'all dig it"

Video: This is Shanghai

Shanghai as you've never seen it before.
"In 1980 Shanghai had no skyscrapers. It now has at least 4,000 — more than twice as many as New York. ‘This is Shanghai’ explores the diversities and eccentricities of the metropolis that is Shanghai going beyond the famous skyline.

Photographer Rob Whitworth and urban identity expert JT Singh joined forces combining deep city exploration and pioneering filmmaking. ‘This is Shanghai’ is a roller coaster ride seamlessly weaving between the iconic, sparkling and mismatched buildings of the financial district travelling by boat and taxi touring Shanghai’s impressive infrastructure whilst glimpsing some of the lesser-known aspects of Shanghai life such as the lower stratum areas or the stunning graffiti of Moganshan road. And of course there is the opportunity to try some of the vast variety of street food and Shanghai’s most popular homegrown delicacy, the pan-fried pork dumplings, the shengjian bao."

Illustration: Iron Man Drawing

Graphite pencil, Colour pencil, Charcoal bar

"I like Iron man so much, so I drew this drawing to celebrate the upcoming Iron man 3."

Paintings: Just One in a Thousand

"I made this painting for the 1000Drawings project, it's a one night exhibition for charity in Amsterdam, on May the 11th. There will be 1000 drawings for sale for the same low, accessible price (€10).. this is my partecipation to the event. So, I hope that someone among you will find my little watercolor and buy it!

Proceeds will be donated to support FairPen, which helps children in Uganda to run an editorial office with their peers, investigate issues, think critically, and publish handwritten, handdrawn newspapers to each other and to their local communities."
