Illustration: Game of Thrones Characters

When I first saw these climbing the ranks of the Game of Thrones SubReddit, I thought that they were Photoshoped illustrations. It turns out that they're actually the hand-drawn character sketches of an incredibly skilled artist.

Game of Thrones Fan Art. Pencil and charcoal on paper

The British Library has digitized Leonardo da Vinci's Notebook ('The Codex Arundel') and made 570 digitized images available online: The notebook of Leonardo da Vinci ('The Codex Arundel') is a collection of papers written in Italian by Leonardo da Vinci (b. 1452, d. 1519), in his characteristic left-handed mirror-writing (reading from right to left), including diagrams, drawings and brief texts, covering a broad range of topics in science and art, as well as personal notes. The core of the notebook is a collection of materials that Leonardo describes as 'a collection without order, drawn from many papers, which I have copied here, hoping to arrange them later each in its place according to the subjects of which they treat' (f. 1r), a collection he began in the house of Piero di Braccio Martelli in Florence, in 1508. To this notebook has subsequently been added a number of other loose papers containing writing and diagrams produced by Leonardo throughout his career. Decoration: Numerous diagrams. More on Leonardo's notebooks from The Guardian's Jonathan Jones. [Via]

Sketches: Harry Potter Moleskin

Harry Potter Moleskin Sketeches by Brazil-based Gabriel Picolo

Artist Gabriel Picolo notes that his new series of illustrated book pages are “inspired by spells, curses, potions and other stuff from the Harry Potter world.”  I wish these were available as prints, or better yet, an artbook.  Picolo says he’s planning to keep adding to his Harry Potter book art, so if you want to keep an eye out, here’s the gallery on Facebook.
"The Levitation Charm is one of the first spells learnt by any young witch or wizard. With the charm a witch or wizard can make things fly with the flick of a wand. The charm is an excellent test of your magical skills, wand control and above all, patience."—An excerpt from the entry in the Book of Spells

Sketches: Glossy Superhero Illustrations

Superhero Color Pencil Illustrations by Chris Clarke

UK-based artist Chris Clarke composes stunning, vibrant superhero illustrations, which rival the glossy pages of Marvel and DC Comics. To obtain the lustrous finish, Clarke skillfully uses deep saturated colors to add shadow and light in the most effective places. His collection of superhero drawings include Jared Leto’s Joker from the upcoming film Suicide Squad and other vintage icons like Spiderman, Batman and a Stormtrooper among others.

Fan Art: Shipping Finn and Poe

John Boyega's Finn and Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron are the single most shipped couple in The Force Awakens universe right now. It's cute and funny because it's one of those things you never could have predicted but that is just so typical of the internet.  I expect animated Youtube videos to surface any day now.

Sketches: The Force Awakens Doodles

It's been over a week since the release of The Force Awakens, and we're neck deep in 'ships.  Whether it's Rey or Fin, everyone's got ideas about who they should be hooking up with in head-cannon.  IceeTree seems to be drawing parallels between Luke and Leia and Rey and Kylo Ren with this series of doodles.
