Illustration: Storytime 2

On exhibit November 6th - 21st at Gallery 1988.

Illustrator Joey Spiotto just opened a new solo exhibition of his pop culture-inspired parodies of Little Golden Books book covers.  Entitled "Storytime 2," the show features fifty different pieces that depict pop-culture characters in the disarmingly cute style of children’s book covers from our childhood. It’s a demented pairing that even manages to make the post-apocalyptic wasteland of Mad Max: Fury Road or the monster-infested streets of Big Trouble in Little China seem like carefree, cheerful places.

Art Show: Sequel

"Sequel" by Ruben Ireland
Part of the "Sequel" Group Art Show November 13 - 23 at iam8bit.

The Sequel is an art show dedicated to movies that were never made.  Over forty artists are contributing pieces.  The opening reception will be Thursday November 13 from 7-11pm at 2147 W Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, California 90026.

Hosted by Los Angeles based art gallery and production studio iam8bit, the ultimate purpose of the show—besides being an excuse to show off some really cool art—is to question Hollywood’s obsession with sequels, and ask a question: Should we or shouldn’t we?

Sequel will run from November 13 until November 23.  Limited edition prints will go on sale at the iam8bit webstore from Friday November 14. Follow them on Twitter @iam8bit or on their Facebook page to receive the announcement.
