Cuddly Rigor Mortis show at Gallery 1988

Disney’s Intergalactic Theme Park Quest to Beat Harry Potter: The parks are an increasingly important part of Disney’s business. Television watchers have been canceling their cable subscriptions, imperiling revenue from ESPN, ABC, Disney Channel, and other properties, which generate the bulk of the company’s profit. Stan Meyers, an analyst at Piper Jaffray Cos. who covers Disney, predicts that by 2020, as its TV profit falters, operating income from the parks will climb by 64 percent, to $5.4 billion.

Ferrari builds world’s first racetrack on a cruise ship for China. This feels like a post-apocalyptic sci-fi film setpiece.  Surely only good things can come from racing cars at sea.

Illustration: Stormtroopers vs Aliens

"501st Legion: Vader's Fist VS Space Cockroaches"
Stormtroopers vs Aliens by Barcelona, Spain-based Guillem H. Pongiluppi

Why couldn't we have gotten this cross-over, instead of that steaming pile, AVP: Alien vs. Predator?  Honest to God, if Hollywood had a face, I would punch it.

Sweets: Alien Egg Cake

I would blow the candles on this cake out from a considerable distance.  In my mind, it's filled with marshmallow mucus.

Metalwork: Alien Wood Burner

Source: Instructables

Nothing says comfort on a chilly autumn night like a gigantic Xenomorph skull filled with blazing flame in the middle of your lawn.  Everytime you throw a log in, you’ll have to count your fingers.

Check out the project page on Instructables to see how the alien was made, in case you want to make one these nightmares yourself or check out more wood stoves on the Burned by Design Facebook page.

Fresh Take: Xenomorph cuddles Pooh

The Xenomorph  might be a slavering predatory creature hellbent on propagating her species at the cost of all other lifeforms, but we suspect that she has a secret soft side as well.  The designers at Odessa, Ukraine-based Sponge Digital & Design must have had a similar notion.  They created this awesome illustration depicting a Xenomorph cuddling up with Winnie-the-Pooh, and little Pooh Bear doesn’t appear to be the least bit distressed about the situation.  Of course, Eeyore is probably laying dead somewhere with a massive hole in his chest, but he was always a downer anyway.

Sweets: Facehugger Fritter

Facehugger fritter

"Facehugger Fritter" by Oak Lawn, IL-based Timmy Hanno, aka Archiehemmingway

This awesome Facehugger fritter may be the most terrifying donut I've ever seen, not that that would stop me from eating every last crumb of it.  Baker Timmy Hanno made this frightening raspberry fritter as a gift for his girlfriend, who’s a huge fan of the Alien franchise.
