Andrew McDonald has stuck upon a novel method of getting his digital camera returned when lost.

Gizmodo asked their readers to submit wallpaper-sized pictures of bugs. Today, 294 colorful images of creepy crawlies were posted to galleries on their site [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6], as well as to Flickr, where high-resolution versions can be downloaded. This project is part of their weekly "Shooting Challenge". Each week's results can be seen in individual sets on their Flickr account.

    In the News: Verdant Art-Tech Contraption Descends Upon France

    This spring, a War of the Worlds-scale tripod carrying verdant laboratories on suspended platforms showed up in Nantes in western France. It was just the latest massive art-tech project from street theater company La Machine, which has been startling Europeans with giant robots for more than a decade. Before the “flying greenhouse,” there was the 50-foot-tall spider on the side of a building in Liverpool. And, of course, there was the 50-ton wooden elephant that roamed the streets of Nantes in 2005.

    Bob Carney showed his model of Neuschwanstein Castle at this year's Brickworld.  The model is massive.  According to Carney's website, Neuschwanstein is one hundred inches long, and it took six months to complete.  You can see how he built it, step by step on his website, along with side-by-side comparisons of the actual castle.  It's really worth a look if you're a lego fan.

    Carnegie Mellon University scientists have created three-dimensional Tetris using a projector and layers of water that falls in curtains, creating actual 3D figures.  Resolution?  "Each screen is formed by water droplets falling from 50 stainless-steel needles. The needles release their droplets in unison, with 60 such lines created every second."
