160 pages into his webcomic "Demon,"
author Jason Shiga declares its intent to "subvert the superhero genre"
with a protagonist who is apparently quite immortal. His character's
ethical alignment is also far from black-and-white, often behaving less
like a "superhero" and more like a "supervillain." Just don't expect
crazy costumes or similar comic book story tropes. The story starts here and updates every weekday.
Shiga recently launched Demon as a self-published small-press title. His older comics include "Fleep" and "Bookhunter," which are still available online, along with "Meanwhile," which is now in print.
