Director James Cameron has been wanting to make a film based on Yukito Kishiro's excellent manga series Battle Angel Alita for years, but he's been tied up in the Avatar. A group of fans who didn't feel like waiting for Cameron to get around to making the movie have taken upon themselves to develop a short film based on the series. This is a proof-of-concept film is titled "The Alita Project," and it's the brainchild of writer Forrest McClain and director Natasha Kermani.
