This isn't a Game of Thrones house sigil, it's the coat of arms of the Netherlands, and it was constructed of hundred upon hundred of painstakingly cut slivers of paper pinned like insects in a collection box to a blue background.
It was created by Moldova-based Beauty & the Beast Studio, the Piko creative agency and illustrator Ivan Belikov. The entire process took six months and started with Belikov rendering the 7-color image so that it could be translated into all those delicate paper fragments, which then had to be cut out, assembled, positioned and photographed. The entire process was just as painstakingly documented, resulting in over 16,000 photos which we compiled to create this marvelous time-lapse video.
