Short Film: NOON

"NOON" Written and Directed by Kasra Farahani

As far as proof of concept films go, this one is rather exceptional.  "Noon" is set on an Earth two centuries into our future where the Sun hangs still in the sky, and times of day have become fixed locations.  It follows a soul-deadened coyote as he reluctantly guides a band of rebels infiltrating an industrial fortress.

While many other sci-fi shorts attempt to impress with whiz-bang special-effects-laden action sequences or show off robots and aliens attacking cities, Farahani keeps the showy sci-fi elements in the background and instead focuses on developing his characters and building tension, which makes this a refreshingly mature short film.

"Noon" has been picked up by Chernin Entertainment, so we may yet see it on the big screen.
"NOON is a scene from a completed feature screenplay. The short sets up the world’s unique premise and introduces our protagonist, Gray, a coyote numbed to the cruelty of the world and his part in it. We watch Gray struggle to salvage what humanity still exists within him when profit is pitted against morality."
