The Kickstarter campaign to bring a 10 foot statue of Robocop to Detroit has come to fruition after two long years of internet-fueled fervor. Imagination Station Detroit set out to raise $50,000 dollars to create a monument to the fictional hero of Detroit, Robocop, and they've finally succeeded. These photos were just recently posted as part of an update on the project.
The pixel-perfect statue was created through a process that combined 3D scanning by Across The Board Creation and expert custom sculpting by Fred Barton. Currently, the model is foam, wax, clay, and steel, but it's heading to Venus Bronze Works in Detroit for casting and manufacturing in bronze.
