The recent popularity of zombies in pop culture has spurred the western world to new heights of obsession with the coming apocalypse. With The Walking Dead television series now in its third season and World War Z coming to the big screen, zombies are on everyone's mind. In an attempt to document the effects of our newest preoccupation on American culture, Jon Hurst’s When the Zombies Come is the story of the employees of a remote hardware store whose love for The Walking Dead has begun to warp the way they see the store and its customers.
I especially loved this YouTube comment: "I worked at an Ace Hardware and when I wasn't mixing paint, making keys, or some other bullshit, I was avoiding customers or making weapons. This is what you do when you work there, these people aren't making this stuff up."
