This beautifully animated short film mixes martial arts and romance, water ink backgrounds and modern film techniques. Ng uses highly stylized kung fu to convey the story of a phone break-up and to explore the China's relationship with art. In a recent interview with Con Men,
Ng revealed that he’s also working on a debut feature that will employ similar
production techniques, so keep an eye out.
"In this “crouching love, hidden breakup” story, inspired by 50’s Shanghai water ink animation & kung fu films, themes of distance, tradition, art and longing dominate a telephonic conversation as a martial arts tango provides the visual backdrop."
