Documentary: Game Of Thrones Effects

One of the really great things about Game of Thrones is how the series manages to compact an entire fantasy world into small, one set scenes.  The show isn't shot on the epic scale of a film, but somehow it manages to feel like an epic scale. Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons are a big part of that.  HBO’s is very selective about how they blow their visual effects budget, but the audience definitely comes away remembering those dragons.  In this behind-the-scenes featurette, WIRED offers an exclusive look at how the Targaryen dragons were brought to life by the visual effects artists at Pixmondo. Virtual wind tunnels, water simulations and real world references all played a part in constructing their realistic behaviors.
