"Black Widow" by French artist Djeff
"Black widow" is designed to evoke the sensation of being trapped by technology in the hope of inspiring on-lookers to reflect on the growing dangers of planned
obsolescence. The installation is composed of wool strung from a fixed point, expanding out towards the public. When the installation detects motion, a pale light activates and slowly intensifies, creating the illusion of motion. The effect is something akin to experiencing what it might be like to be a fly caught in a spider's web.
