"The Awakening" by J. Seward Johnson, 1980.
The Awakening is a 70ft statue of a giant embedded in the
earth, originally installed at Hains Point, Washington, D.C. The statue
consists of five separate aluminum pieces buried in the ground, giving
the impression of a distressed giant attempting to free himself. The
artist is known for his large-scale sculptures, however, this piece is
considered his most dramatic work.
