Hoxton Street is a part of Dave Eggers’ 826 literacy project. He discusses his project in this inspirational TED talk. Dave Eggers is the guy behind McSweeney's Quarterly, and the memoir A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius. What's great about his stores is that they aren't just fun, they're well designed. Here's a gallery of the store's graphic design.
"Customers are politely requested to refrain from eating the staff, and why should you, when we stock a pharmacopoeia of different types of fear, a complete range of edible human preserves and everyday household essentials like Malodorous Gasses, Children’s Ears and Pencils.Discerning monsters please note: a new shipment of A Vague Sense Of Unease has just arrived, alongside a pallot of Thickest Human Snot. These will not last long, so remember to bring cash only (since the events of last month we are tragically unable to accept credit cards, beans, or human sacrifice)."
