American Gods Is Spoiler-Proof Television

Back in 1963, George R.R. Martin, who only had one “R” to his name back then, sent a letter to Marvel to praise Fantasic Four issue #17, saying it was probably the best comic of all time. Here’s a video from the History channel showing the author reading his old letter to us. At the end, we also see George’s old address, which I immediately seeked on Google map.

Here’s a breathtaking cover of “Light of the Seven,” the song featured in the season 6 finale of Game of Thrones.

Video: World of Warcraft on the NES

This fun video made by Rkade Soup imagines what an NES version of World Of Warcraft would have looked like, complete with old-school music. He’s also done videos for Sister Location and Overwatch that are worth checking out when you get a free moment. But for now, have fun going through a 8-bit version of Azeroth.

Video: Kids Describe God

It’s no secret that kids have the wildest imaginations. They speak of daydreams with details on astronomical levels, and these visions are often almost physically impossible for the restricted adult mind to picture.

In this comedic video, WatchCut finally puts kids’ imaginations on paper. The channel invites Seattle-based illustrator Koji Minami to sit down and listen to some kids—believers and non-believers—describe God. He then sketches their descriptions to amazing detail and the end results are as fantastic as you’d expect.

Watch the video below for a good laugh.

Sweets: Kraken Piescraper

Sweets: Star Wars Crawl Cake

Here's something I've never seen before. It's a five tier cake with a personalize crawl written down the side created for a couple renewing their vows by Instagram's CakeGuy555. That's Han, Leia, and R2-D2 on top and a mini-Death Star stacked in the middle, and the text was written by the bride and groom about their love for each other. Zoom in closely and you can read snatches of phrases like "I promise to be generous and cherish all our moments together," "my one true love and soul mate," "missing puzzle piece," and more.

Evidently, this isn't the kind of couple that exchanges a glib, "I love you" / "I know" like most Star Wars fans. The cake make complains that it was a huge undertaking, and in the second photo (below), can be seen giving the cake the finger.

DIY: Millennium Falcon Theater

YouTuber Beardless Man has uploaded a video of the Millennium Falcon-themed tablet stand he and his son made for watching movies.  He notes that the Millennium Falcon shape is not only ideal for watching as you lie down and look up, it’s also makes for good acoustics so both people inside the theatre can hear the tablet.  Plus, I have to think that it looks pretty cool sitting in a corner when not in use.  Now that I've seen one made, I may try making one of these for myself.
"Rogue One: A Star Wars story comes out today, and it inspired me to do a Star Wars DIY build. A Millennium Falcon theater, a place to lay back and enjoy watching the newest Star Wars movie without having your arms fall asleep from holding the tablet up, or having it drop on your face.

Paintings: Van Gogh Never

"Van Gogh Never" by Scotia, New York-based artist Aja Kusick
Prints available for purchase from Etsy. US$12

For an ongoing series entitled "Van Gogh Never," Aja Kusick recreates Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night as a backdrop for pop culture characters.  The series started when an education blog mistakenly shared Aja’s painting of the Eiffel Tower as a Van Gogh original despite the fact that the artist died in poverty just a year after the monument was completed.  After that, Kusick decided to create other paintings of things that Van Gogh never saw, from the TARDIS flying over Gallifrey to a Super Mario Bros. level.

Inventor and YouTuber Warner “wermy” Skoch (@sudomod_wermy) has been keeping fans in suspense about his mintyPi v2 for months. The original mintyPi was, in Skoch’s words, “Raspberry Pi Zero running RetroPie, a hacked-to-pieces DS Lite controller, and various other bits” crammed into an Altoids tin. It was cool, but not very attractive. This second version has a much sleeker design and would be an awesome little gadget to pull out of your pocket and show off to all your friends.

Who reads books at a theme park? I walked up and asked what they were reading. They were doing their homework. Wait what? They explained they went to the junior high right behind the park and have season passes. Their parents let them come to the park and do their homework. They're doing their real homework in a fake school in cosplay. Universal didn't design that into the park but it's happening.

A new tourist attraction has appeared: Visit the largest 6-sided die in Lake Idaho!

New York artist Martin Wittfooth produces stunningly beautiful and detailed allegorical paintings featuring animals wandering through a post-apocalyptic world…The world humans have bequeathed these animals is choked with plastic, devastated by pollution, and illuminated by all-consuming fire. The one hope is a progression to a better more fruitful world through personal sacrifice and death. Animals snared in manmade tangles of telephone cords sprout flowers from their eyes; a dead wolf bursts with colorful blooms that nourish a hummingbird; a white horse is set on fire by deranged monkeys.
