Here's a gallery of images re-imagining the X-Men as medieval fantasy characters.  It's some seriously impressive work.  Someone need to start pumping out some fan fiction to put these illustrations to good use.

"I suppose its as good as any to start showing what I've been working on in my free time.

A group of 'gifted' individuals in the service of Lord Charles Xavier. The Order provides sanctuary and protection to individuals outcast by society due to their innate abnormalities. These people are often miss-labeled as monsters, demons, warlocks and witches. Only those who are accepting of the 'gifted' are welcome to the realm of Lord Xavier.

This is a personal fan-fiction variation on the X-Men. I thought it would be a fun exercise to do the X-Men in an alternate medieval/fantasy reality. Prejudice and discrimination were rampant in our history. Being a darker and less civilized time, fear and hatred ran deeper making it an interesting setting for the X-Men. The quest to protect and defend the 'gifted' would be near insurmountable."

Being an X-Men is a busy job. Between the fighting, the schooling and the baseball games, there’s not much time for anything else — or is there?

Vreeland cartoonist Chad Sells has begun depicting Marvel’s mutants during their off-time in a new series of illustrations dubbed “Everyday X-Men.” The 16 images released so far show various X-Men (and their enemies) in their leisure pursuits … and interestingly enough, many of them are in their ’90s-era duds, if they’re wearing anything at all.

"Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been obsessed with comics — reading them, writing them, drawing them. The X-Men have always been some of my favorites, especially the ’90s Jim Lee era that I was first introduced to,” Sells tells IGN. “So I wanted to try and draw some of those iconic and nostalgic characters, but without relying on just hyper-sexualizing the characters or putting them in exaggerated, contorted action poses."
