Payload is a dark science fiction film that explores the problematic relationship between individuals and their environments. It tells the story of a family that lives in the shadow of a space elevator that promises to connect them
with the possibilities of a better life even as they struggle to survive their dystopian surroundings. Director Stuart Willis manages to strike a very nice balance between visual effects and dramatic narrative, creating a film with a satisfying plot and a lot of style, despite the limitations of his budget.
