"Wire Cutters" created by Minneapolis-based Jack Anderson
Wire Cutters is a short animated sci-fi film about two robots who run into each other while mining on a desolate planet. It's a clever bit of storytelling every bit as good as anything Pixar and Disney pump out, but this is a far cry from Wall-E. The “cute” robot eyes of the protagonist
set you up for a warm and fuzzy cartoon, but the film rapidly spirals into an allegory about greed, throwing audiences for a loop.
According to an AMA on Reddit, Anderson spent “thousands of hours love and about a year of rendering” to bring his animated project to life. All the hard work paid off, though, when Wire Cutters went on to become a Student Academy Award Finalist
