It's safe to say that Ben Pitchford of Fond du Lac, Wisonsin is a master builder. He spent eleven months designing and constructing this 120,000-plus piece replica of Rivendell, as envisioned in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit. The model is built on a five by four foot baseplate, and it stands more than 50 inches tall.
The piece incorporates several dioramas of scenes from an Unexpected Journey, including the arrival of Gandalf and The Company of Thorin Oakenshield, the return of Elrond, the dinner scene, and the meeting of the White Council. Oh, and by the way, it lights up, too.
The whole thing was placed on display at the Children’s Museum of Fond du Lac at the end of 2014.

ReplyDeleteGreat job on creating Rivendell. The design and colors create a sense of peace, a key attribute of rivendell and one at odds to the evil embodied in Mordor.
