"Lena's Complicated Machine" directed and written by Malik Isasis
"Lena's Complicated Machine" is a short film about grief cloaked in the trappings of science fiction. It's a bit on the long side, but it remains engaging from beginning to end, eschewing high concept techno babble for a subtle examination of one woman's emotional landscape.
"Three years after her partner's untimely death, Dr. Lena Thierry, a neuroengineer, has been unable to move on. After years of research and development, she attempts to upload his consciousness into a computer software program."
