"Flesh Computer" Directed by Ethan Shaftel
"Flesh Computer" is a short Cronenberg-esque horror film that veers into realms of the Terry Gilliam weird. The film follows a weary handyman who keeps a "cybernetic pet" that begins to causes problems in the
apartment building where he lives. When a pair of thugs who live the apartments threaten a young girl, the line between human and machine begins to blur.
While the visual FX scream student film, they aren't that important to the narrative, and they lend the piece the feel of an eighties movie. Think Tron meets The Fly.

"FLESH COMPUTER, a short film from writer/director Ethan Shaftel, explores the nature of consciousness by jumping between the perspectives of an eclectic group of characters including a young girl, a vicious bully, and a tiny housefly. Noted philosopher David Chalmers appears in the film and raises some fundamental questions on consciousness in counterpoint to the action."
