Fresh Take: The Throne of Nerds

The Throne of Nerds by Mike DeWolfe

This nerd homage to Game of Thrones was created from twenty old keyboards and melted under the ragequit flame of frustration that can only come with the  abrupt, unsatisfying cliffhanger of a season finale of your favorite series.
"The underlying message is one of suffering. The keyboards have been melted and warped. They’re made to twist to fit, but at the same time that renders them unuseable because they cannot fulfill their intended purpose. The keyboards are black and silver, and the underlying chair is white, but those colours have been replaced with black, in whole or in random splotches.

The keyboard warping includes the scorching of almost all of the ESC keys to symbolize how impossible it can be escape suffering and blackness. The only key that is consciously left undamaged is the ESC key on the highest positioned keyboard."

Li Hongbo's flexible paper sculptures are incredible. Li Hongbo makes the sculptures by manually gluing sheet upon sheet of paper together to make 3D objects which bend and flex in mindbending ways. Portfolio and bio, and more pictures and videos of the sculptures in action.

Zach Weiner, creator of the Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal (SMBC) web comic, drew six hours of free cartoons on Reddit to promote his new book.  Here’s the original post, it drew thousands of comments on the popular site: “I have a new book coming out, and so… for the next 6 hours, I’ll draw whatever you want … I did this a while back and was doing full color art. This time I’m gonna do quicker sketches so I can try to get to more people’s requests.”  So far, the comic creator has raised more than $231,000 on Kickstarter for a new book of comics called SCIENCE: Ruining Everything Since 1543You can explore all the drawings on Reddit.  My favorite was the request for "A superhero whose super power is that he makes people perceive him as having super powers he doesn't have." Short Film: Lucy in the Sky with Diamond

Turns out Lou Diamond Phillips is the new Neil Patrick Harris. This short is basically a very long version of an Old Spice commercial.
