Video: Movie Reference in The Simpsons

Short Film: Accord Perdu
Pierre Antoine Naline created this short animation as part of his Supinfocom 2nd year project. Accord Perdu, which is French for "Lost Agreement" is a fun, musical piece about a piano tuner tapped inside a piano. The film's visual style is a simulated low poly, angular style that is reminiscent of the early days of computer graphics. As the technician begins to play his music, his world transitions from a cool color scheme to a warm one, and vice versa.
Short Film: Biomorph
"Biomorph" directed by Henrik Bjerregaard Clausen
Biomorph is an eye full of film created by director Henrik Bjerregard Clausen and a group of 12 students at the 3D College of Denmark as a means of promoting both the school and it's students. Inspired by Blizzard's cinematic games trailers for Starcraft and World of Warcraft, as well as his love of gritty 80's era science fiction, Clausen crafted a short teaser that would play to his students strengths: Texturing and modeling.

This small museum on the island of Pingtan in China looks like nothing so much as a Skate of Sting Ray from above. It would make an excellent lair for a James Bond villain.

"1000 Shadows" by Herbert Baglione
"1000 Shadows" is a series of works by the urban/street artist Herbert Baglione, which consists of spirits escaping from urban settings.
His latest creations in this series are set in the empty rooms of an
old abandoned psychiatric hospital in the city of Parma in Italy, which further increases the fascinating and frightening ambiance of his creations. Past works include shadows consisting of thousands of dead leaves. You can see a broader array of his work on personal blog and in his Facebook photo stream.

Video: Photoshop Filters
"Photoshop Cs5 Filters Animation" is a small tribute to Photoshop filters. We used the Ps logo and systematically applied the filters in the same way, seeking the essence of the software, exploring the aesthetic values of its resources but letting the spectator judge them.
The project is comprised of two parts: A tumblr page, where all the effects live together at the same time as animated gif, representing all the steps from the original Ps logo to the final output.
And a video showing every filter one after each other, with a custom sound design that uses the same sound for each filter but with a different distortion effect for every case, exporting the graphical concept to the sound.
In both parts, the order of appearance is the same that offers photoshop."

Short Film: Journal Of An Outbreak
"Journal Of An Outbreak" Directed by Olivier Mamet
Journal Of An Epidemic is a case zero style recollection presented as a video journal, using a mixture of original and found footage to chronicle the end of the world as we know it. Considering how little actual action occurs in the film, it's amazing how chilling it is. Most of the chills are thanks to some top notch narration work by Luke Atencio. In some ways, it reminds me of a mix of Omega Man and 28 Days Later but with a distinctly polished look. Watch and enjoy.
Short Film: Walter - The Gathering
"Walter" is an amazing animated short that tells that story of a freedom fighter's escape from a city ruled by authoritarian regime. The short uses a mix of stylish 3D escape sequences featuring hand painted backgrounds and monochromatic 2D flashback sequences. Considering that this was labeled "Chapter 1," I'm hoping to see this fleshed out into something longer.
Video: Tokyo City Symphony
Tokyo is an incredibly lively and beautiful city, but amid it's busy streets and constant changing cityscape, it's easy to loose sight of it's architectural beauty. Tokyo City Symphony looks to change how we see the city using a 1:1000 scale model of the city. The result is captivating.
Video: Evil Octopus
Evil Octopus was created ussing a mixture of Modo (an increasingly popular 3D software suite) for block in modeling, Zbrush for detailing the octopus and rough textures followed by rendering and finishing in Modo again. The final image is pretty stunning.

Jie Ma is a Chinese artist from Beijing who specializes in my favorite brand of surrealism. As a kid, The Mysteries of Harris Burdick was one of my favorite books. Every since, I've been attracted to the sort of surreal fantasy realism that looks like its intended to be a writing prompt. Ma's work certainly fits the bill. Check out her CG Society portfolio.

You may recognize the work of Vance Kovacs from your favorite geek franchise. He's very well known fantasy artist who frequently works on designs for film, games, publishing and theme parks. His clients have included Disney, Warner Bros, Epic Games, Paramount, Universal, Blizzard, Trion Worlds, and probably most recognizably, the Wizards of the Coast.
Lego Creation: Cylon Baseship

Garry King created this model of the somewhat obscure space station, which was only briefly referenced in the classic series. It is composed of 16,387 bricks weighing a grand total of thirty-six pounds.
"I like this build because it is unusual in design and concept. There is very little reference material available for this ship just the basic shape. The detail is applied for a dramatic effect. If you have a look at the original 1978 Battlestar Galactica series. The first movie Saga of star worlds when Apollo and Zac go on patrol and see a Cylon tanker the scan through their onboard war book display and this beauty is unveiled for the first time.Sadly it never got developed as a model until now. Wait before I say that I should say I have not found any physical models on the internet."

Doctor Who Ice Cube Tray
Francis Ching is professor emeritus of architecture at the University of Washington who keeps a blog of his city-focused sketches. Discussion varies from thinking about construction and layout to materials and focus when drawing scenes.
Isaac Cordal makes little figures out of concrete, painting some, while leaving others their native grey color. He then places them in various places and situations around Europe, and has set them up in gallery shows. You might find them in the street, sitting on rooftops, precariously balanced on a pipe, standing up to their waists in water with a life preserver, or standing in the snow. The figures are made in clay, then a silicone mold is made in which the concrete is cast. Street Art London has an interview with Cordal.
