News: LEGO's Cuuso system has chosen its next fan-submitted set release. The previous one was the Back to the Future Delorean, and it appears they are sticking with the "Beloved Sci-Fi/Comedy vehicles of the 1980's" theme, because the next set will be the Ecto 1.  Check out the official video announcement with pictures of the winner and runners up!

At 40 Years Old, Dungeons & Dragons Still Matters: Ethan Gilsdorf looks back on four decades of pen-and-paper role-playing tradition.
The extended setting of the Harry Potter series has proved to be fertile soil for some seriously epic fan fiction and worldbuilding, especially since the release of Pottermore, the official companion site to the series. Some of these fan fiction projects include explorations on wizarding fashion, headcanons such as Muslims culture at Hogwarts, magical education (including other magical schools), future Hogwarts generations, and, of course, fantastic beasts. Some of them, like Field Notes from the Department of Mysteries, make for great writing prompts.

Iconic Fantasy Game Dungeons & Dragons Turns Forty

In an interview conducted by Emma Watson appearing on the front page of yesterday's Sunday Times, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling admits that she regrets Ron and Hermione's relationship and that "Hermione should have wed Harry." Basically, the internet (or at least, Tumblr) explodes and a Shipping War, long thought settled by the Treaty of Deathly Hallows erupted anew. Maybe she should have killed Ron after all.  After all, Ron doesn't come off that well in the movies.  (Seriously, though, avoid Tumblr for the next week unless you want to experience firsthand what a million fan girls shouting "I told you so" in gifs looks like up close.)

Some of you will be watching football, some of you will be watching the commercials (I suppose some of you will be watching both, and, let me acknowledge that some of you will not watch a damn thing and get that out of the way..).. For you commercial fans...here's a preview of many of the 2014 Superbowl Commercials... And, going back, here's HuffPo's list of the 50 best all time Superbowl Commercials.
