Short Film: Little Witch Academia

Little Witch Academia is an adorable and action-pack independent anime directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi of Dead Leaves, Gurren Lagann, and Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt.

While it may, at first blush, appear to be yet another piece of the increasingly common big-boobed ani-porn that has become so prevalent lately, Little Witch Academia is, in fact, a delightful blend of Western and Japanese animation styles that stands surprisingly well on its own. I highly recommend setting aside half an hour to give it your undivided attention if you're any sort of anime fan.

The project is by Trigger, a recently formed animation studio, and was created through the Young Animator Training Project, a program funded by the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs to provide on the job training oppertunities for young Japanese animators in the interest of preventing the outsorucing of this kind of work.
