Installation: Rainbow Water Towers

Rainbow Water Towers by Bruce Munro
On exhibit at the cloister at Salisbury Cathedral.

Water-Towers is a maze of 69 towers that populate two sides of the cloistered walkway at Salisbury. Each tower is built from 216 illuminated water bottles, which change colour in synch with a musical score. When viewed from across the cloister the stone arches silholuette Water-Towers and create an animated facade something like a stained glass window. Inspiration for the install came from a book about a young girl with  Synesthesia.

Munro and his ten man team ran sixty-nine thousand meters of optic fibre through fifteen thousand bottles filled with thirty tons of water over the course of two weeks in preparation for the exhibit.
