Photography: Sketchy Self-Portraits

Self-Portraits
"The Sketches Inside Me" by Paris-based Sebastien Del Grosso

Sebastien Del Grosso came up with the idea for these sketches while he was updating his Facebook profile.  After taking a self-portrait, he began to sketch himself into the picture.   Rather than completely transforming his photos into sketches, Del Grosso only partially adapts the original pictures into a composite effect.

Super Flemish by photographer Sacha Goldberger part 2

Inspired by Flemish paintings, particularly Rembrandt, photographer Sacha Goldberger composed and photographed these beautiful portraits. He worked with a team on costumes, make-up and hair, and also enlisted the help of some highly unconventional friends.

A small army of volunteers, ranging from costumers to hardcore cosplayers to hairdressers were involved.  What makes this series so amazing is that it's not a computer making Sabine Graissaguel look like Carrie Fisher, or Jonathan Tuil look like Christopher Reeve.  Those are their real faces, transformed through the meticulous application of make-up and lighting.
“All of the animals are real,” he says. “I wanted my girlfriend to pose with the Marabou Stork. Unfortunately, it escaped and flew all over the studio. It felt like we were in Jurassic Park.”
