The retro super-heroines of Stephen Langmead ooze pinup girl sex appeal all while wearing the original debut costumes for their characters. The original 1941 Wonder Woman costume (above) looses the lasso which didn’t appear as a WW accessory until several years later.

Will Tony send Hulk to his corner through the use of yoga mat after battles in future movies?  Will there be scented candles?  Perhaps a tussle in Lululemon?

Mash-Up: Iron Man

Iron Man Mash-Ups by Melbourne, Australia Kode Logic

One of the things that's frustrated me most about the Marvel Universe the most over the years is the question of why the heroes don't share out their technology to get a leg up on the villains.  The Avengers movie storyline is a perfect example.  Tony Starks "super power" is his intellect, not his suit of armor.  The armor is replicable and dispersable.  So why not make S.H.I.E.L.D. a hundred super suit to deploy from their carrier in case of alien invasion?

In this series, artist Kode Logic imagines what it might look like if Iron Man made suits for other super heroes.  Turns out Iron Man armor makes pretty much any comic book character look more bad ass.

There was far too little screen time for these two in the movie.  I hope we see more of them in the next movie.  About the piece above, the artist says: "#Nebula design I painted for @Guardians focused less on sexy & more on 'can kick your a$$'"

Illustration: Hawkeye #19

gazzymouse:

slashyrogue:

Hawkeye 19 is awesome and everything but it’s so frustrating knowing just enough sign language to miss out on complete conversations! You couldn’t have the words somewhere?!?

Oh, how appropriate.

I'm not a Hawkeye fan. I never have been.  However, the character and his comics have attracted some amazing creative talent over the years.

Hawkeye #19 by writer Matt Fraction and artist David Aja is a prime example of how art can transcend a fandom to advance a cause.  In issue #19, a character's use of sign language is depicted without subtitles, with the dual effect of offering readers unable to read sign an inkling of the frustration that the deaf community experiences in every day life and encouraging curious young readers to learn more about signing.

I thought it was very cleverly done, and I've grabbed a copy to read because of it.

Crafts: Captain Marvel Stained Glass

Ravings Aside is the Tumblr of a nerdy artist who creates all forms of crafts, including ceramics, cross-stitch samplers, doilies, and stained glass.  This piece includes detailed build photos that demonstrate the many steps involved in creating a hand made stained glass window.  The steps are: Drawing - pattern-cutting - glass-cutting - grinding - washing - foiling - assembling - soldering - wash - patina - wash - frame-sawing - frame-filing - frame-soldering - detail-painting - hanging!
"People seemed to like the Hawkguy stained glass, so here is another piece with the wonderful Carol Danvers as Captain Marvel! Inspired by the powerful art of Jamie McKelvie that truly captured the strength and determination of one of my favorite heroes.

It will also be hanging at Fantastic Comics :D

(The mesh behind it on the photos is a bug net I cannot remove from my windows… Living in grad housing has its advantages and inconveniences - sigh.)

The piece is 20 inches x 30 inches; 300$ worth of glass, 8$ worth of solder and 5$ worth of band-aids"
