3D Print: Dreamer Mask

Melissa Ngdreamer Mask: Emergence

Designs available as 3D printed works from Shapeways.

Artist and entrepreneur Melissa Ng of Lumecluster designed and created these two beautiful 3D-printed masks for her Dreamer/Nightmare Mask Series. Although they appear quite delicate, the masks are made of a strong, flexible ABS plastic that makes them suitable to be worn. However they make striking display pieces as well.

3D Print: Steampunk Iron Man Hand

"Steampunk Iron Man Hand" by Jacky Wan (Valcrow)

Jacky Wan is an incredible designer, collaborating with Ultimaker in creating various projects. He recently combined two of his passions, movies and helping those in need. Inspired by e-NABLE’s noble mission of creating 3D prosthetic hands, Wan wanted to create a 3D printed prosthetic hand that would look “more cool” than what is currently available. He wanted to make something that a child would be proud of or be the envy of others. He also had the desire to change this disability into something that was “fun in its own way.”

Wan used the Raptor Hand design as a base in creating a steampunk style Iron Man prosthetic hand. The snap-together construction of the hand ensures each component is useful, including the gears on the back of the hand. Wan has made the design available on YouMagine for free download, and it has already been downloaded more than 500 times.
"While many of the printable prosthesis designs have come a long way in proving it's function. They still have a long way to go in aesthetics. This iteration focuses on building upon that base but making it more creative, fun and acceptable to children to alleviate the psychological stress of having to use a prosthesis.

This is a first version. Most of the aesthetic and base structure is complete. A level of refinement & revision towards the function and usability is required. Future improvements include: variable finger tension, rotatable thumb."

Typography: 1950's Series Titles

"1950's Series Titles" by Stellenbosch, South Africa-based Luke Ritchie
Popular TV series logos recreated using custom fifties-style typography.

I love the 50s style especially the black and white noir feel of these images.  Luke Ritchie brilliantly captured the personalities of these TV shows. I love the depth, texture, and, of course, the style.
