Quick Pic: Starry Night Pumpkin

The Maniac Pumpkin Carvers’ interpretation of “Starry Night,” by Vincent van Gogh

Here's The Maniac Pumpkin Carvers’ interpretation of Van Gogh's "Starry Night," which was commissioned by the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. For at least three months each Fall, pumpkin carvers Marc Evan and Chris Soria, of New York City, relinquish their illustrator occupations to carve fantastical pumpkins full-time to become the Maniac Pumpkin Carvers.

Horror Face Pumpkins Los Angeles-based sculptor Jon Neill

Los Angeles-based sculptor Jon Neill built his career working in design and prop, creature and costume creation for TV and movies. But he’s also a wickedly awesome master pumpkin carver, turning unassuming gourds into grotesque and terrifying creatures. Neill is now a senior illustrator in the Art Directors Guild and a faculty member at the Laguna College of Art and Design, which is where he’ll be giving a live pumpkin carving demonstration on Sunday October 26, 2014.

"Cut it close, but just managed to finish this years pumpkins! Lighting them both together was a heck of a job, and that last picture was as good as I could manage, and carving those small pumpkins was no easy task either. Regardless, I’m proud of how they both came out!"

Among her more glaring accomplishments, Natalie’s Willie Nelson cake reached number-one globally on Reddit.com. Sweets: Steampunk Frankenstein Cake

This amazing cake is based on a costume created by Richard Baker.  Whenever I see a cake like this, I can't help but thinking what a tragedy it is that people with this kind of sculpting talent choose to work in an edible medium.  Like WTF?  If I could sculpt like this, I'd be working in friggin marble.

"Sometimes you just gotta paint your monster themed nesting dolls in Basil Gogos' style, know what I mean? These were fun to do, and might be the only set I paint this way. Frankenstein's Monster ended up looking more Strange than Karloff but that's okay."

DeviantArt user Ceemdee has been turning out photo galleries of beautiful video game tributes in the form of elaborately carved pumpkins for years now.  His work is all over Tumblr, but sadly, most of it isn't attributed.  I decided to gather up some of the best of his work in one place for you to feast your eyes on, but there's plenty more on his DeviantArt gallery!
